Bij deze presenteer ik deel twee van de Hunters Gatherers 2 luik.
Acryl op canvas 100/150 cm.
We zien winkelend publiek, gewapend met tassen en rugzakken. Anoniem en vluchtig als in een constante stroom het laagste punt zoekend om in te verdwijnen.
In mijn beschrijving van Hunters Gatherers 01 schrijf ik:
“De moderne 21eeuwse (westerse) mens. Hij jaagt, hij verzameld. Het mannetje, het vrouwtje, ze verzamelen zij aan zij. Ze verzamelen, non stop/ 24-7. De verworven items wordt mee genomen naar het eigen territorium. Hier wordt het alsnog aan een tweede blik onderworpen en getoond aan de gemeenschap voor goedkeuring. Het is vonkelnieuw, nieuwer dan het nieuw van gisteren. Met dit item kan er een nieuwe trede op de sociale ladder gestegen worden. Nee, hier geen honger of dorst. Wel een knagend verlangen”.
Op het moment dat ik deze aanvullende alinea schrijf is het 28 november 2019 de dag voor Black Friday, het toppunt van koopgekte . Een fenomeen dat totaal aan mij voorbij zou gaan als niet iedereen die iets te verkopen heeft mij achtervolgd met vele aanbiedingen. Een van de grote uitdagingen van de 21e eeuw is het terugdringen van Co2 en stikstof. Mijn theorie over een mogelijk haalbaar begin van een duurzame oplossing hiervoor begint met het stoppen van al die aan koop-consumeer gerelateerde feestdagen. Hier is winst te halen lijkt mij.

Het maakproces/ The making of
In onderstaande video is het maakproces vastgelegd van Hunters Gatherers (Jagers Verzamelaars) no.2. Elk beeld representeerd een werksessie. Je ziet ook goed hoe de kunstenaar-‘ik’- tijdens het maakproces van gedachte veranderd over wat het beeld nodig heeft. Hunters Gatherers no.2 is deel van de Brave New World serie.

Hereby I present part two of the Hunters Gatherers diptych.
Acrylic on canvas 100/150 cm.
We witness a shopping crowd, armed with bags and rucksacks. Anonymous and lucide as a contant stream that seeks the lowest point to resolve in.
This is part two of the Hunters Gatherers diptych.
In my description of Hunters Gatherers 01 I write: “21th century modern (western) man. It hunts, it gathers. We witness a male and female collecting, side by side. They collect non-stop/24-7. The obtained objects are brought home. It will be submitted to a second look and shown to the community for approval. It is brand-new, even fresher than yesterdays new. Ranked a level higher on the social ladder now. No, we are not hungry or thirsty anymore just hunted by a nagging desire.”
The moment I write this additional paragraph it is 28 November 2019, the day before Black Friday, the climax of shopping frenzy. I would remain totally oblivion by this phenomenon if not chased by every retailers discount offers. One of the great challenges of the 21th century is to force back our Co2 and nitrogen emissions. My theory about a possible and feasible solution is to discard all over-consuming- buying-lunacy related holidays. This kind of traditions we all could do easily without. Here is a benefit to gain for us all.
