The exhibition Wankel Evenwicht (Delicate Balance) came to an end today, June 10, and with it my ‘research’.

To put things back in perspective, we started a little over six months ago with a social design project by Cibap Next, the Academiehuis and Creative Works. As participating artists, we lend an ear to society and translated that into visuals and an exhibition (in the Academie Huis, Zwolle).
The research questions (and of course the answers we picked up in Stadshagen): what divides us and what connects us, were the foundations for my W.I.P., seeking a balance between the I, WE and THEY. During the exhibition, the research continued and visitors were asked to place Sunflower seeds on the W.I.P., choosing from the words I, WE and THEY. The harvest was weighed almost weekly. Last week was my second-to-last intermediate weighing of the yield and that showed a trend and that trend was that I actually did surprisingly well.

Today was the last weighing, I’ve added everything up and that shows the following; The least weighty word was:
(WIJ) WE > here is 5895 gr by the public imposed in 6 weeks time
IK (I) > was with his 11105 gr a good 2nd (with a weight gain of 5210 gr)
ZIJ (SHE) > here is still the most weighted > 11738 gr (with a smaller difference of 633 gr)
Fun to speculate on the significance of this outcome. For it may be social design but not an exact science ( :
