Dit schilderij is het eerste in de rij van de POST HOC schilderijen. Borderliner is een combinatie van een rood-wit gestreepte verkeersbarrière en een persoon die de lijn van het rood naar het wit oversteekt. Het zou voor veel dingen kunnen staan. Zowel op kleine persoonlijke schaal als op grote sociale schaal. Het is aan de kijker.

Hereby I present my latest artwork titled Borderliner to you.

Acrylic on canvas, 50 x 50 cm.

This painting is the first in line of the POST HOC paintings. Borderliner is a combination of a red white striped traffic barrier and a person crossing the line from the red into the white. It could represent many things. On a small personal scale as well on a great social scale. It is up to the viewer.

Brave new world (part two) heeft een voorganger, Brave new world (one). De titel van beide werken is ontleent aan een dystopische science fiction roman van Aldous Huxley (1932). In deel 1 van mijn Brave new world schilderijen, zie je een jongetje klaar om de wereld te redden van zijn ondergang. Gekleed in zijn oversized Superman pak lijkt hij overweldigd en overschaduwd door zijn eigen ’te’ grote schaduw. In deel twee zie we de jong volwassen Superman. Zijn outfit strak, om door een ringetje te halen. Zijn geest afwezig. Hij kan even niet komen redden want hij heeft zo zijn verplichtingen aan zijn virtuele sociale gemeenschap.

(ENG) Brave new world (part two) has a predecessor Brave new world (one). The title of both works based on a dystopian science fiction novel from Aldous Huxley (1932). In part one of my Brave new world paintings, a young boy desires to battle for all he’s worth. Dressed in his oversized Superman outfit he seems overwhelmed and overshadowed by his own enlarged shadow. In (part two) we see the adolescent Superman. His outfit, now sharp as a razor blade but his mind is numb. He cannot come to rescue. His world is falling apart but it escapes his observation completely. He has other obligations to his virtual social community.
