Blou blauw proces @ Jamshak > Langhuis
Het was een geweldige leuke en intensieve avond, de Jamshak in het Langhuis. We hebben het niet helemaal afgekregen maar goed dat was ook bijna mission inpossible. We hebben er een serieuze gooi naar gedaan. Nu moeten we nog 1 ronde gipsen om de imperfecties er uit te halen en te verstevigen. Daarna wordt het ergens in Zwolle geëxposeerd en krijgt ons beeld ‘Blou Blauw’ zijn definitieve huid.
It was a great and intense evening, the Jamshak at the Langhuis Zwolle. We did not totally succeed in finishing the statue; it would have been mission impossible. But we did a serious attempt! Now we only have to do one more round of working the plaster, for refinement and to strengthen it. Than she/he will be exposed somewhere in Zwolle and Blou Blauw will get her final skin.

Beast 2017
Bij deze presenteer ik mijn laatste kunstwerk ‘Beast’. Beast is een sculptuur van 2 meter hoog/ 80 breed en 50 diep. Een post apocalyptisch dier, gedeformeerd en gemuteerd probeert het te overleven en zich voort te planten want dat is nou eenmaal de natuur. Het is ook een metafoor voor het beestachtige in de mens, een hedendaagse Guernica.
Hereby I present my latest artwork ‘Beast’. Beast is a sculpture of 2m high/ 80cm wide and 50cm deep. A post-apocalyptic animal, deformed and mutated, tries to survive and breed because that’s nature’s nature. It’s also a metaphor for the beast in man, a contemporary Guernica.

Vandaag komt de courier om het schilderij Weapon Of Choice 2014 naar zijn nieuwe eigenaar te brengen. Hieronder de laatste handelingen om doek vervoerklaar te maken. Leuk en spannend dat je werk zo de wereld over gaat zwerven.

Twee vissen bewegen zich sierlijk in een voor hen abstracte omgeving. Ze lijken te figureren in een surrealistische film en moeten zorgen niet aan de dreigende haak geslagen te worden. Tegen de achtergrond staat een kleine groep voor wat lijkt op een enorm filmscherm. Ze schijnen er geen aandacht aan te schenken omdat ze volledig ondergaan in hun eigen schermen. Ze zijn aanwezig zonder mentale aanwezigheid. Tussen de schermen is de strijd om aandacht net begonnen en ze vragen zich af welk onderwerp het snelst de meeste likes krijgt.

Two fish are swimming and twirling gracefully around in an otherwise abstract surrounding. They seemed caught in a surreal film and must avoid a threatening hook. In the background a small crowd is standing before what looks like a giant screen, but they do not pay any attention to it because they’re submerged in their own screens. They are there without actually being there mentally. Between the screens the battle for attention is only just started and they are wondering which topic will get the most likes the fastest.

design ‘Major Minority
Mijn laatste design voor het Artwearness label; Major Minority
Submerged 2016
Mijn laatste werk ‘Submerged’ is af. Dit kunstwerk maakt deel uit van de serie Metropolieten. Deze serie gaat over het leven wat totaal geabsorbeerd wordt door het maakbare en de zoektocht naar de ontsnapping hieraan. De schilderijen uit de serie zijn lichtelijk geïnspireerd op apocalyptische filosofieën. In mijn scenario’s is er altijd een uitweg en de kijker weet niet zeker of het nu een plezierige trip is of juist niet. De Vissen het doek ‘Submerged’ representeren verlorenheid en zijn duidelijk out of place, als een vis op het droge. Tegelijkertijd gaat dit werk over een toekomstbeeld waarin de zee alles weer terug neemt. In het meest lichte scenario dragen we allemaal laarzen en/of bikini’s … ( :
(English) This painting is part of the series Metropolitans; this series is all about being absorbed by the manmade, concrete world and finding your way out. My paintings are inspired by slightly apocalyptic thoughts. In my scenarios there’s always an escape and the viewer is even not sure weather it’s a pleasant trip or not. The fish in my painting represent lost creatures that are evidently out of place, like a fish out of water. The counter idea of this painting is that we all will probably submerge with the ocean again, sooner or later. Or in the best-case scenario we have to wear high boots or bikinis. There’s always hope (:

The birth of Anatomia (Corpus Suaves)
It took us a while but here she is, Anatomia (Corpus Suaves). She’s a product of Mirthe Langelaan and myself a.k.a. Duo Ongezoet (Duo Unsweetened). She’s build up from liquorish strings in the colours red, orange, yellow and purple. She impersonates a sweet anatomic lesson with here and there some poetical freedom regarding the muscle construction. Duo Ongezoet is founded in 2006 until 2007 and had a revival during The State of the Arts exhibition in the metropolic museum, Zwolle. Visitors could see us at work in the central entrance hall. We thought it would last us two months but it took us two year. Now here she is and here sweetness is all over and only skindeep! (photo processing panorama by Mirthe Langelaan)
